Agreeing on specifying the amount of the Mahr

A husband accepting help in paying for marriage costs
Fatwa no.
14044
Q:
A young Muslim man wants to marry. He has brothers who offer to help him with most of the marriage expenses. Is it permissible for him to take this money?
It should be noted that his brothers observe performing all the obligatory Prayers in their due times except for Fajr (Dawn) Prayer. They usually offer it after its due time. I advised them many times and told them about the danger of doing so.

But they make excuses for this, and say that they cannot get up early to perform Salah while they get up when it has to do with their worldly works. Is it permissible to take their money to pay for the costs of marriage? It is worth mentioning that this money will be given as a gift and not a debt.
A:
You have to continue giving your brothers advice with regards to performing Fajr (Dawn) Prayer in its due time. They have to resort to the means that help them do this and there is no harm in you accepting the sum of money they give you to help you to pay for the marriage costs if you need it. May Allah grant us success. May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions.
